Check whether you need a visa
Nationals of many countries can enter Mexico as non-lucrative visitors without a visa. Start with the official SRE consular guidance to find out whether your nationality needs a visa or can travel on the tourist card (FMM).
Choose the right document
Short visits usually use the tourist card (FMM / digital FMMD) or a visitor visa. Stays over six months use a temporary resident visa, and permanent residency uses a permanent resident visa — both completed at the INM after entry.
